Roses, orange trees, myrtles… It is said that every Moroccan family has its own still to extract the essences of flowers from the garden. This perfume culture is the theme of the "Perfumes of Morocco, an art of living" exhibition organized by the perfumer Abderrazzak Benchaâbane and the Dar Bellarj foundation for the promotion of Moroccan culture. In the Foundation’s headquarters in the heart of the medina, the exhibition uses paintings, sculptures and workshops to present the age-old culture of perfumes. Moroccan women developed this culture down the generations, manufacturing beauty elixirs for the skin and hair, including the famous argan oil, rose water and orange flower.Guided tours for adults and children explore how a perfume is made, along with aromatherapy and the use of essences on a day-to-day basis and at sacred ceremonies. Artist Nadia Ouriachi Conejo meanwhile presents the world of flowers through her canvasses. An exhibition which awakes all the senses.
