Designed by Arnaud Massy for the Pasha of Marrakech in the 20s the course was a favourite of King Hassan II and other famous players: Churchill, Lloyd George, Eisenhower …. A magical environment with cypress, olive, orange trees and the Atlas peaks in the background.

Golf in the Palm Grove

Private courses and an ideal setting: the city's golf courses are designed by top architects and attract some of the most famous names.

Churchill, Eisenhower and even His Majesty the late Hassan II: the world's greatest men all flocked to the greens of Marrakech. Each site has its own character and devotees. The historic Royal Golf Club, which was commissioned by the Pacha in 1923, delights with its hundred-year-old trees and fairways winding their way between two rows of cypresses. It was redesigned by Arnaud Massy (winner of the British Open in 1907), Bouchaib Stitou (record-holder on this course in 1940) and Gustave Golias. The course at the Palmeraie Golf Club was designed by the great Robert Trent Jones with its seven lakes and thousands of palm trees in addition to the fabulous view of the High Atlas mountains in the background. The Amelkis Golf Club, designed by Cabell Robinson, has the most technical course and is recommended for more advanced players. This is also where the 2000 Moroccan Open was held. Then, there is the new-comer, Samanah, designed by Nicklaus Design and covering 300 hectares! But then who's counting?
